Buchanan County Republicans Formal Letter of Censure

WHEREAS, Dawn Kress Vogel serves as a Buchanan County Supervisor and is a Republican candidate for Buchanan County Supervisor in the November 2026 General Election; and

WHEREAS, the Buchanan County Republican Central Committee has an interest in supporting Republican candidates and promoting the objectives and principles of the Republican Party; and

WHEREAS, the Committee has reviewed documented public activity involving Dawn Kress Vogel that demonstrates public support for and political alignment with the Democratic candidate for Buchanan County Supervisor over multiple cycles; and

WHEREAS, such documented activity includes, but is not limited to:

1. Public social-media activity in which Ms. Vogel has expressed support for, or otherwise publicly aligned herself with, the Democratic candidate;

2. Participation in and/or attendance at public town-hall events involving the Democratic candidate, including circumstances in which Ms. Vogel's participation or presence was publicly associated with the candidate or campaign;

3. Attendance at an event sponsored by or associated with the Democratic Party, thereby placing Ms. Vogel in a public setting associated with the Democratic candidate and/or Democratic Party; and

4. Publicly reported or published statements quoting Ms. Vogel as expressing support for the Democratic nominee for Buchanan County Supervisor;

WHEREAS, the Committee recognizes that individuals have the right to hold personal political beliefs and to participate in political activities of their choosing; and

WHEREAS, the Committee further recognizes that the conduct of a person seeking election as a Republican candidate may reasonably be considered by the Republican organization whose nomination and support the candidate seeks; and

WHEREAS, the Committee considers the documented conduct identified above to constitute public support for and political alignment with the Democratic nominee that is inconsistent with the Committee's stated purpose of supporting Republican candidates; and

WHEREAS, the Committee considers it appropriate to formally distinguish its position from the conduct described herein and to make clear that such conduct does not constitute an expression of the position or endorsement of the Buchanan County Republican Central Committee;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Buchanan County Republican Central Committee hereby formally CENSURES DAWN KRESS VOGEL based upon the documented public support for and political alignment with the Democratic candidate described in this resolution;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this censure is based upon specific public conduct and statements identified and documented by the Committee and is not based upon speculation concerning Ms. Vogel's motives, personal beliefs, future political ambitions, or intentions;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the supporting documentation relied upon by the Committee—including applicable social-media posts, event information, photographs or other documentation of attendance, and published statements or quotations—shall be retained with the Committee's records;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution shall be entered into the official minutes of the Buchanan County Republican Central Committee;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution may be provided to Dawn Kress Vogel, the Republican Party of Iowa, and other appropriate Republican Party officials or organizations as determined by the Committee;

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that this resolution represents the formal position of the Buchanan County Republican Central Committee concerning the conduct specifically identified herein.

Buchanan County GOP Central Committee

PROCLAMATION OF REVOCATION OF PARTY SUPPORT

AND DECLARATION OF NON-ENDORSEMENT

WHEREAS, the Buchanan County Republican Central Committee is charged with supporting Republican candidates and advancing the Principles of the Republican Party Platform; and

WHEREAS, Supervisor Dawn Kress Vogel has engaged in activities intended to support candidates opposed to Republican nominees within Buchanan County; and

WHEREAS, such conduct is contrary to the expectations of party loyalty and cooperation necessary to advance Republican electoral success;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Buchanan County Republican Central Committee no longer recognizes Supervisor Dawn Kress Vogel as a representative of the values and objectives of the Buchanan County Republican Party.

BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED that the Committee withdraws any current or future endorsement, recommendation, or official support for Supervisor Kress Vogel and members of her campaign team, now or in the future, unless and until such action is rescinded by a future vote of the Committee.

BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED that Supervisor Kress Vogel, including all members of her campaign (i.e. spouse, significant other, etc.) shall not be authorized to represent the Buchanan County Republican Central Committee, speak on its behalf, or imply endorsement by the Committee under any circumstances.

BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED that this action is taken not because of policy disagreements, but because of conduct deemed detrimental to Republican candidates, Republican officeholders, and the Republican Party organization in Buchanan County.

Adopted this  24   day of    September, 2026, by the Buchanan County Republican Central Committee.
